This invention relates to a series of naturally-occurring diterpene compounds that have the capacity to inhibit cell proliferation. These compounds are therefore able to inhibit proliferation in a diverse range of tumour cell lines, and furthermore achieve this with a low toxicity toward normal cells. In addition, these compounds have potent anti-inflammatory and anti-angiogenic actions. All of these properties make these compounds especially attractive for the generation of new antitumoral drugs with a broad spectrum of therapeutic application at a level of toxicity lower than that of currently available drugs.
