The CNIC faces the great challenge of establishing a new model for translational research, working in two directions to apply basic research knowledge to the diagnosis, treatment, prognosis and prevention of cardiovascular diseases and also to address scientific questions that arise from daily clinical practice at the patient's bedside.
To achieve this, the CNIC’s Translational Research Department has launched a specific program of grants to finance translational research projects in the field of cardiovascular disease.
This initiative falls within the general goals of the Translational Cardiovascular Research Department, whose main mission is to facilitate the conversion of knowledge generated in basic research laboratories into clinical practice, as well as to stimulate the research process through the questions generated in healthcare centers. As such, the Department aims to contribute to the creation of bidirectional links between the CNIC’s basic researchers and the researchers of the Spanish National Health System.
