Lab Technician for the Neurovascular Pathophysiology Group

The Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares Carlos III (F.S.P.) CNIC has been conceived to develop research of excellence, competitive and of international relevance in relation to cardiovascular diseases. The CNIC has a research centre of 24,000 m2, located in Madrid, with more than 6,000 m2 for laboratories equipped with a state-of-the-art infrastructure and equipment.

CNIC is searching to hire a Lab Technician with experience in cardiovascular and neurodegenerative disease studies, to join the group of Neurovascular Pathophysiology, directed by Dra. MA Moro. Functions:

Technical support in the research tasks related to the scientific lines of the group that will involve tissue sampling, molecular, cellular biology, histology and microscopy techniques, cell culture, animal experiments as well as a wide range of other laboratory techniques.

Mandatory requirements

  1. Professional Training (Formación Profesional Grado Superior) in the field of Life Sciencies.
  2. Certification to work with animal experimentation, Functions B and C (Orden ECC/566/2015) or former category B (R.D. 1201/2005).
  3. Prior experience of at least 2 years in research laboratories in animal experimentation models.

Valuable Requirements:

  • C1. Experience in tissue (brain, blood, etc) sampling, processing and functional testing of animal models of neurovascular and cerebrovascular diseases (must be reflected in the CV and will be valued according to the number of years or fraction).
  • C2. Experience in DNA isolation for genotyping and colony management of transgenic animals (must be reflected in the CV and it will be assessed according to the number of years or fraction).
  • C3. Experience in general laboratory management, molecular and cell biology techniques, histology (cryostat, microtome and staining) and microscopy images acquisition (must be reflected in the CV and will be assessed according to the number of years or fraction).
  • C4. Interview.

Selection plan:

The RESOLUTION OF THE SECRETARIAT OF STATE FOR PUBLIC FUNCTION APPROVING THE COMMON ACTION CRITERIA FOR THE RECRUITMENT PROCESSES IN THE STATE PUBLIC SECTOR ENTITIES of April 11, 2022, set forth in point 6.1 that “Unless a specific regulation establishes a merit-bases recruitment system (concurso), the competition (concurso-oposición) must be the recruitment system”

In CNIC, the specific regulations approved by the Foundation's board of trustees establish a merit-base recruitment system (concurso) including a personal interview.

At least the 3 candidates with the highest score (as long as they reach the minimum of 70 points as a sum of criteria (C1 - C3) will be interviewed. The candidate with the highest score will be hired given the total score (C1 - C4) is higher than 85 points.

Maximum duration of the selection process:

De acuerdo con el art. 2.2 de la Ley 20/2021, de 28 de diciembre, de medidas urgentes para la reducción de la temporalidad en el empleo público y la “Resolución de la secretaría de estado de función pública por la que se aprueban los criterios de actuación comunes en los procesos selectivos de las entidades del sector” de 11/04/2022, el proceso se resolverá con anterioridad al 31 de diciembre de 2024.

C2 - Experience in DNA isolation for genotyping and colony management of transgenic animals (must be reflected in the CV and it will be assessed according to the number of years or fraction) - 25%
C3 - Experience in general laboratory management, molecular and cell biology techniques, histology (cryostat, microtome and staining) and microscopy images acquisition (must be reflected in the CV and will be assessed according to the number of years or fracti - 25%
C4 - Interview - 20%
