Laura obtained her degree in Biotechnology at the University of Almería in 2019. During her degree, she conducted the 2017-2018 academic course at the Polytechnic University of Madrid. At University of Almeria, she was a member of the Department of Biology and Geology in the area of Plant Genetics and Genomics at the University of Almería, where she did internships and did the Final Degree Project entitled "Genomic editing with CRISPR-Cas9 in Nicotiana benthamiana".
After finishing her degree studies, she enrolled a Master in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biomedicine at the Complutense University of Madrid (2019-2020). She joined Dr. Pilar Martín’s group thanks to the support of the CNIC-ACCIONA Master Fellowhips Program in Biomedicine, where she did her final master's project entitled "Role of CD69+ regulatory T cells and miR-155 in myocardial damage after ischemia".
Currently, she has started her doctoral thesis, with the support of the predoctoral fellowships FPU program, in the groups of Dr. Mercedes Ricote and Dr. Pilar Martín. The scientific goals of the project involve the study of the capabilities and use of different microRNAs in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
