Specialist Technician for the Cardiovascular Risk factors and Brain Function program

The Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares Carlos III (F.S.P.) CNIC has been conceived to develop research of excellence, competitive and of international relevance in relation to cardiovascular diseases. The CNIC has a research centre of 24,000 m2, located in Madrid, with more than 6,000 m2 for laboratories equipped with a state-of-the-art infrastructure and equipment.

CNIC is searching to hire a Specialist Technician with experience in cardiovascular and neurodegenerative disease studies, to join the Cardiovascular Risk Factors & Brain Function Research Program, coordinated by Dra. MA Moro. Candidates with previous experience in neurovascular research laboratories will be valued.

Functions:

Technical support in the research tasks related to the scientific lines and objectives of the program that will involve knowledge and demonstrated expertise in behavioural and neurological tests in animal models.

Mandatory requirements:

  • Professional Training (Formación Profesional Grado Superior) or higher (bachelor degree) in the field of Life Sciences
  • Certification to work with animal experimentation, Functions B and C (Orden ECC/566/2015) or former category B (R.D. 1201/2005).
  • Prior experience of at least 2 years in research laboratories

Valuable Requirements:

  • Research experience in behavioural testing in animal models (must be reflected in the CV indicating this experience in a clear form).
  • Experience in behavioral and motor tests (Open Field, Irwin, NOL, NOR, Y-Maze, Footprint test, Freeze-frame, Barnes maze etc.) (must be reflected in the CV and will be assessed according to the number of years or fraction)
  • Experience in tissue (brain, blood, etc) sampling, processing and functional testing of animal models of cerebrovascular diseases (must be reflected in the CV and will be valued according to the number of years or fraction).
  • Experience in DNA isolation for genotyping and colony management of transgenic animals (must be reflected in the CV and it will be assessed according to the number of years or fraction).
  • Experience in general laboratory management, molecular and cell biology techniques, histology (cryostat, microtome and staining) and microscopy images acquisition (must be reflected in the CV and will be assessed according to the number of years or fraction).
  • Interview.

Selection plan:

La RESOLUCIÓN DE LA SECRETARÍA DE ESTADO DE FUNCIÓN PÚBLICA POR LA QUE SE APRUEBAN LOS CRITERIOS DE ACTUACION COMUNES EN LOS PROCESOS SELECTIVOS DE LAS ENTIDADES DEL SECTOR PÚBLICO ESTATAL de 11 de abril de 2022, establece en el punto 6.1 que “Salvo que una normativa específica prevea el sistema selectivo de concurso, el sistema selectivo será el de concurso-oposición”. En el caso de CNIC la normativa específica aprobada por el patronato de la Fundación establece un sistema selectivo de concurso con fase de entrevista

At least the 3 candidates with the highest score (as long as they reach the minimum of 65 points as a sum of criteria C1-C5 will be interviewed. The candidate with the highest score will be hired given the total score (C1 –C6) is higher than 80 points.

Duración máxima del proceso de selección

De acuerdo con el art. 2.2 de la Ley 20/2021, de 28 de diciembre, de medidas urgentes para la reducción de la temporalidad en el empleo público y la “Resolución de la secretaría de estado de función pública por la que se aprueban los criterios de actuación comunes en los procesos selectivos de las entidades del sector” de 11/04/2022, el proceso se resolverá con anterioridad al 31 de diciembre de 2024.

Criterios de puntuación: 
C1 - Research experience in behavioural testing in animal models (must be reflected in the CV indicating this experience in a clear form) - 20%
C2 - Experience in performance and analysis of behavioural and motor tests (NOL, NOR, Y-Maze, Footprint test, Freeze-frame, Barnes maze, Open Field, Irwin, etc.) (must be reflected in the CV and will be assessed according to the number of years or fraction) - 35%
C3 - Experience in tissue (brain, blood, etc.) sampling, processing and functional testing of animal models of cerebrovascular diseases (must be reflected in the CV and will be valued according to the number of years or fraction) - 10%
C4 - Experience in DNA isolation for genotyping and colony management of transgenic animals (must be reflected in the CV and it will be assessed according to the number of years or fraction) - 10%
C5 - Experience in general laboratory management, molecular and cell biology techniques, histology (cryostat, microtome and staining) and microscopy images acquisition (must be reflected in the CV and will be assessed according to the nº of years or fraction) - 5%
C6 - Interview - 20%
