The Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares Carlos III (F.S.P.) CNIC has been conceived to develop research of excellence, competitive and of international relevance in relation to cardiovascular diseases. The CNIC has a research center of 24,000 m2, located in Madrid, with more than 6,000 m2 for laboratories equipped with a state-of-the-art infrastructure and equipment.

CNIC is searching to hire an experienced graduate technician/lab manager to join the group of Hematovascular Pathophysiology, led by Dr. José Javier Fuster.

This contract will be supported by the project “Somatic mutations and clonal hematopoiesis as predictors and drivers of heart failure progression (MyoClonal)” with reference LCF/PR/HR22/52420011 funded by Fundación “La Caixa”

 

Functions:

The selected candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. José Javier Fuster Ortuño, participating in different collaborative research projects related to the regulation and pathophysiological effects of clonal hematopoiesis in the setting of cardiovascular disease, with a particular focus on atherosclerosis and heart failure. In addition to contributing to these research projects, the selected candidate will be in charge of: 1) designing and supervising the laboratory’s procedures related to animal experimentation; 2) supervising the handling and biobanking of biological specimens in the laboratory in accordance with safety and ethics guidelines; 3) training other researchers in experimental techniques related to clonal hematopoiesis and related conditions; and 4) monitoring and managing collaborative research efforts within several research consortia coordinated by the CNIC’s Hematovascular Pathophysiology laboratory.

Mandatory Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in biomedical or health sciences.
  2. Minimum previous experience of 5 years as researcher or lab manager in biomedical research laboratories.
  3. Accreditation to work with experimental animals, including the design and supervision of animal experimentation projects and procedures (functions A, B, C and D or equivalent, according to order ECC/566/2015)

Valuable Requirements:

  • C1. Laboratory management experience in international biomedical research institutions, including the management of tissue biobanks and shared equipment in the laboratory (must be reflected in the CV and will be assessed according to the number of years or fraction).
  • C2. Experience in the management of collaborative research projects, including national and international consortia (must be reflected in the CV and will be assessed according to the number of years or fraction).
  • C3. Experience in experimental research on clonal hematopoiesis or related hematological conditions (must be reflected in the CV and will be assessed according to the number of years or fraction).
  • C4. Experience in murine models of inflammatory, cardiovascular or metabolic disease, including at least models of experimental atherosclerosis (must be reflected in the CV and will be assessed according to the number of years or fraction).
  • C5. Scientific publication record (must be reflected in the CV and will be assessed according to the number of publications and the position of the applicant in the list of authors).
  • C6. Interview

The RESOLUTION OF THE SECRETARIAT OF STATE FOR PUBLIC FUNCTION APPROVING THE COMMON ACTION CRITERIA FOR THE RECRUITMENT PROCESSES IN THE STATE PUBLIC SECTOR ENTITIES of April 11, 2022, set forth in point 6.1 that “Unless a specific regulation establishes a merit-based recruitment system (concurso), the competition (concurso-oposición) must be the recruitment system”

In CNIC, the specific regulations approved by the Foundation's board of trustees establish a merit-based recruitment system (concurso) including a personal interview.

At least the 3 candidates with the highest score, as long as they reach the minimum of 70 points as a sum of criteria (C1‐C5) will be interviewed. The candidate with the highest score will be hired given the total score (C1-C6) is higher than 85 points.
