Postdoctoral researcher for the Cardiac tissue engineering and regenerative therapies

The Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares Carlos III (F.S.P.) CNIC has been conceived to develop research of excellence, competitive and of international relevance in relation to cardiovascular diseases. The CNIC has a research centre of 24,000 m², located in Madrid, with more than 6,000 m² for laboratories equipped with a state-of-the-art infrastructure and equipment.

Functions:

The selected candidate will get training in engineering regenerative therapies to improve cardiomyocyte engraftment in an injured heart. Work will involve the culture of iPS cells, animal models, use of molecular and biology techniques and microscopy techniques as well as data analysis.

This contract is funded by the European Union through the European Innovation Council, with funding awarded under the EIC Pathfinder Open 2025 call, Project GA 101258941 and acronym HeartVISION.

Mandatory Requirements

1. PhD in the area of life science
2. At least one first author publication in the cardiovascular research field is required

Valuable Requirements:

C1. Experience in cardiovascular experimental models, including echocardiography and ECG analysis.

C2. Accreditation for functions B and C in experimental models.

C3. Experience with gene therapy studies including studies with adeno-associated viruses, in cell culture including human pluripotent stem cell culture and cardiac differentiation from induced pluripotent stem cells.

C4. Experience in fluorescence microscopy and image analysis.

C5. Interview (it will be conducted in English).

Positive action: a correction index of 1.5 is established for each year of experience in the evaluation of the number of years in those criteria where experience is evaluated, in the event that the disable person greater than 66% and 1.2 in the event that the disable person greater than 33%.

Recruiment Plan:

The RESOLUTION OF THE SECRETARIAT OF STATE FOR PUBLIC FUNCTION APPROVING THE COMMON ACTION CRITERIA FOR THE RECRUITMENT PROCESSES IN THE STATE PUBLIC SECTOR ENTITIES of April 11, 2022, sets forth in point 6.1 that “Unless a specific regulation establishes a merit-bases recruitment system (“concurso”), the competition (“concurso-oposición”) must be the recruitment system”.

In CNIC, the specific regulations approved by the Foundation's board of trustees establish a merit-based recruitment system (“concurso”) including a personal interview.

At least three candidates with the highest score (as long as they reach the minimum of 60 points as a sum of criteria (C1-C4) will be interviewed. The candidate with the highest score will be hired given the total score (C1-C5) reaches 75 points

C2. Accreditation for functions B and C in experimental models (it will be assessed according to the official documentation provided). 10%

C3. Experience with gene therapy studies including studies with adeno-associated viruses, in cell culture including human pluripotent stem cell culture and cardiac differentiation from induced pluripotent stem cells (it will be assessed globally considering the time/specialization relationship and number of known techniques). 30%

C4. Experience in fluorescence microscopy and image analysis (it will be assessed globally considering the time/specialization relationship and number of known techniques). 20%
