Gonzalo received his MD from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in 2013. That year he joined Miguel Manzanares' Lab as an undergraduate student after having spent a couple of months at Marella de Bruijn's lab in University of Oxford studying embryonic haematopoiesis. Also, he had previously spent three years as an undergraduate student at the University Physiology Department where he acquired background on ischemia-reperfusion damage. Nowadays he works at the Haematology and Haemotherapy Department in Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre and is currently interested in molecular etiopathogeny of haematological malignancies, especially myeloproliferative neoplasms and how chromosomal conformation can explain how inherited variants increase the risk of suffering those diseases.
