The Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares Carlos III (F.S.P.) (CNIC) has been conceived to develop research of excellence, competitive and of international relevance in relation to cardiovascular diseases. The CNIC has a research centre of 24,000 m2, located in Madrid, with more than 6,000 m2 for laboratories equipped with a state-of-the-art infrastructure and equipment.

The Molecular Genetics of Angiogenesis group of the Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Carlos III (F.S.P.) (CNIC) led by Dr. Rui Benedito, is looking for a specialist technician to provide experimental support to the laboratory.

This contract will be funded by the Project H2020-ERC-2020-COG- GA-101001814 with title “Understanding and modulating vascular arrest with ultra-high definition, acronym: AngioUnrestUHD” granted to Dr. Rui Benedito in the call “H2020-ERC-2020-COG. European Research Council” carried out in the Molecular Genetics of Angiogenesis laboratory. 

 

 

Functions:

The selected candidate will be responsible for carrying out the specific technical tasks regarding the H2020-ERC-2020-COG- GA-101001814- AngioUnrestUHD”:

  • Management of experimental model colonies.
  • Retinal dissection of experimental animals
  • Genotyping of transgenic mouse lines.
  • Carrying out molecular biology and biochemical techniques.
  • Cell culture
  • Histology and Immunohistochemistry, including tissue fixation and processing, as well as cryostat, microtome, and vibratome use.
  • Collaboration in maintaining the general organization of the laboratory and reagent stocks.

Mandatory Requirements

  1. Bachiller Superior o Formación Profesional de Grado Superior.
  2. Participation as author or coauthor (in any position) in a minimun of 2 indexed peer-review international journals in the field of Biomedicine, which appear in PubMed.
  3. Be accredited to work with experimental models, Functions A, B and C, in accordance with Order ECC/566/2015

Valuable Requirements:

C1. Experience in laboratory management and maintenance: equipment, samples, etc., as well as in the preparation of solutions and materials frequently used in biochemistry and cell culture.

C2. The person must have at least one publication of international relevance that describes the retinal dissection technique, in addition to the genotyping of colonies of experimental animals and immunohistochemistry.

C3. Experience in handling, maintenance and management of cell lines.

C4. Experience in intravenous and intraperitoneal drug administration in experimental models.

C5. Experience in molecular biology techniques (PCR, RT-PCR, nucleic acid and protein isolation, etc.) and biochemical techniques (SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, etc.)

C6. Experience in histology and immunohistochemistry techniques, including tissue fixation and processing, as well as cryostat, microtome and vibratome use.  

C7. Interview (English proficiency will be valued).  

Positive action: a correction index of 1.5 is established for each year of experience in the evaluation of the number of years in those criteria where experience is evaluated, in the event that the disable person greater than 66% and 1.2 in the event that the disable person greater than 33%.

Selection Plan:

The RESOLUTION OF THE SECRETARIAT OF STATE FOR PUBLIC FUNCTION APPROVING THE COMMON ACTION CRITERIA FOR THE RECRUITMENT PROCESSES IN THE STATE PUBLIC SECTOR ENTITIES of April 11, 2022, sets forth in point 6.1 that “Unless a specific regulation establishes a merit-bases recruitment system (“concurso”), the competition (“concurso-oposición”) must be the recruitment system”.

In CNIC, the specific regulations approved by the Foundation's board of trustees establish a merit-based recruitment system (“concurso”) including a personal interview.

At least the 3 candidates with the highest score (as long as they reach the minimum of 70 points as a sum of criteria C1‐C6) will be interviewed. The candidate with the highest score will be hired given the total score (C1-C7) is 90 points or higher.

Score criteria:

C1. Experience in laboratory management and maintenance: equipment, samples, etc., as well as in the preparation of solutions and materials frequently used in biochemistry and cell culture (It will be assessed as a whole taking into account the time/specialty relationship and known techniques). 5%

C2. The person must have at least one publication of international relevance that describes the retinal dissection technique, in addition to the genotyping of colonies of experimental animals and immunohistochemistry (It will be assessed according to the number of the publications listed in the CV). 25%

C3. Experience in handling, maintenance and management of cell lines

(It will be assessed as a whole taking into account the time/specialty relationship and known techniques accredited through the publications listed in the CV). 10%

C4 Experience in intravenous and intraperitoneal drug administration in experimental models (It will be assessed as a whole taking into account the time/specialty relationship and known techniques accredited through the publications listed in the CV). 15%

C5.
