The State Research Agency nominates José María Ordovás as member of its Scientific and Technical Committee


The researcher of the Carlos III National Centre of Cardiovascular Research (CNIC), José María Ordovás, has just been nominated as one of the 12 internationally renowned experts that make up the Scientific and Technical Committee of the State Research Agency.

The Scientific and Technical Committee is the principal advisory body of the agency. This Committee advises the agency on its annual plan of activities and on principles, methodologies and practices of scientific and technical evaluation, by which the agency will regulate, incorporating international standards. It will also be in charge of advising on follow-up, results and impact of the actions of the agency or defining the selection criteria of the collaborators and experts.

Dr. Ordovás is, in addition to Senior Collaborative Investigator at CNIC, Director of the Nutrition and Genomics Laboratory in USDA, Director of the Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at the University of Tufts (Boston) and Senior Investigator of IMDEA Foods. He has published approximately 600 original articles, reviews and editorials.

The Scientific and Technical Committee is the principal advisory body of the agency

This Committee which will meet regularly every four months, is made up of 12 internationally renowned experts. In the selection process of this Committee, the balanced distribution of all big areas of knowledge, was taken into account. Apart from Dr. Ordovás, the Scientific and Technical Committee of the State Research Agency is composed by: Luis Fernando Álvarez-Gascon, General Director of GMV Secure E-solutions; Manuel Arellano, Econometrics teacher at the Center of Monetary and Financial Studies of the Bank of Spain; Avelino Corma, Director of the Chemical Technology Institute (UPV/CSIC); Ana Maria Cuervo, Co-director of the Einstein Institute for Aging Research in New York; Violeta Demonte, Linguist at the University Autónoma of Madrid; Alberto Enciso, Researcher at Ramon y Cajal Institute of Mathematical Sciences (UAM-UCM-UC3M-CSIC); Antoni Esteve, PhD in Pharmacy from the University of Barcelona (UB); Luis Liz Marzán, Research Professor of Ikerbasque; Susana Marcos, Professor of Investigation of CSIC; Ángela Nieto, Research Professor at the CSIC Neuroscience Institute and the University of Miguel Hernandez de Elche; and, Carme Torras, PhD in Information Technology and research professor of CSIC at the Robotics and Industrial IT Institute (Universidad Politécnica of Cataluña).
