Jorge graduated in Biotechnology at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) in 2018. He started his scientific career during the last year of the degree, analyzing the possible genomic alterations in the use of the gene-editing CRISPR-Cas9 system at the Cytogenetic Unit of the Spanish National Cancer Research Center (CNIO). Later on, Jorge obtained his MSc in Therapeutic Targets of Cell Signaling at Universidad de Alcalá (UAH), studying the design and use of specific promoters in neuroblastoma at the CNIO.

In 2019, he joined the Molecular Hepatology group at Hospital Universitario La Paz Research Institute (IdiPAZ) to characterize specific mutations in genes involved in cholestatic children diseases. In September 2020, Jorge joined Dr. Ricote’s as Phd student. The main goal of his thesis is to study the role of RXRs in the identity and function of tissue resident macrophages.
