Microscopy

The Dynamic Imaging and Microscopy Unit offers advanced services in optical microscopy, combining state-of-the-art technology with a strong commitment to user training and support.

Services and Personalized Support
We guide our users through all stages of their work—from sample preparation to data analysis—providing tailored protocols for image acquisition and processing. Our team offers individualized training, enabling users to independently operate microscopes and image analysis software. Nonetheless, we are available daily to provide technical support, troubleshooting, and expert advice.

Technology and Applications
We are equipped with cutting-edge systems for fluorescence microscopy, brightfield, confocal, multiphoton, TIRF, nanoscopy (STED, STORM), and SPIM. These technologies allow us to obtain high-resolution multicolor images of cells, tissues, and model organisms, both in vitro and in vivo. We also develop advanced analysis methods, including large-scale image processing (tiling, stitching), cell tracking and shape recognition, 3D/4D analysis, multicolor co-localization, and specialized applications (FLIM, dSTORM, N&B) for the study of protein mobility and dynamics, biomolecular interactions, and membrane fluidity.

Research and Dissemination
Our unit collaborates in competitive research projects, contributing to studies ranging from biomolecular functionality to the analysis of biological processes in live cells and tissues. We also share our expertise with the scientific community through conferences, workshops, and publications in specialized journals.

The group is internationally recognized for its expertise in advanced imaging techniques such as fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM) in live cells. It contributed to the design and development of phasor-based analysis and published the first studies on phasor-FLIM.
